Hubungan Antara Resiliensi Keluarga Dengan Kualitas Hidup Lansia Penderita Diabetes Melitus di RSUD Sambas

Background: There has been a significant increase in cases of diabetes mellitus among the elderly in Sambas Regency, West Kalimantan, with 9,564 cases of diabetes mellitus in 2022. This number has been steadily rising since 2019. Along with the global and national growth of the elderly population. As people age, the elderly become increasingly susceptible to degenerative diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Diabetes mellitus significantly impacts the quality of life of the elderly, both physically and mentally, due to long-term treatment and care. Preliminary results indicate that many elderly individuals with diabetes feel like a burden to their families and experience financial difficulties due to the disease. Therefore, the researcher wants to know if family resilience is related to the quality of life of elderly people with diabetes mellitus. Objective: To determine if there is a relationship between family resilience and the quality of life of elderly patients with diabetes mellitus. Methods: This study uses a descriptive quantitative method with a cross-sectional design. The sample size was 82, using time-limited sampling and accidental sampling techniques. The research instruments used were the FRAS and DQOL questionnaires, which had already been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was performed univariately and bivariately, with bivariate data analysis using the Gamma test. Results: The p-value for family resilience and quality of life was 0.001, meaning p < 0.005 with a correlation coefficient of 1.000. Conclusion: There is a relationship between family resilience and the quality of life of elderly patients with diabetes mellitus, with a low level of association.
