Peer Review Process

All manuscripts submitted to the Khatulistiwa Nursing Journal (KNJ) undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. The stages of this review process are as follows:

  1. Online Submission: Manuscript submission is processed exclusively through the Khatulistiwa Nursing Journal's Open Journal Systems (OJS) at: https://ejournalyarsi.ac.id/index.php/knj/user/register.

  2. Initial Evaluation: Incoming manuscripts are first examined to ensure compliance with the KNJ Author Guidelines, formatting requirements, and the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts meeting these criteria will proceed to the peer-review stage. Those that do not will be rejected, and authors may be recommended to submit their work to other journals. The Managing Editor will send a notification regarding this initial decision via email within two (2) weeks.

  3. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts that pass the initial evaluation will undergo a double-blind peer-review round. Reviewers are selected based on their academic reputation, research expertise, and international publication record. Each prospective reviewer will receive a formal invitation from the Editor. Once the reviewers accept the assignment, they will evaluate the manuscript and provide constructive feedback to the authors within a maximum of six (6) months.

  4. Revision and Recommendation: Manuscripts requiring revisions (either major or minor) will be returned to the authors. Peer reviewers are responsible for providing evaluation notes and recommendations regarding the acceptance or rejection of a manuscript. However, the final decision to accept or reject a manuscript rests solely with the Editor and Editor-in-Chief.

  5. Author Revisions: Authors are granted a minimum of four (4) weeks to complete the required revisions. The final publication decision heavily considers the article's relevance, significance, and contribution to the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice.

  6. Final Publication: Manuscripts that have successfully passed the final editing phase and received editorial approval will be published in an issue determined by the Editor-in-Chief.

Additional Information:

The standard time required to review a manuscript ranges from 4 to 12 weeks. All review activities are conducted via the OJS platform, where each reviewer is provided with a unique account. The Editor oversees the entire double-blind review process to ensure objectivity. To prevent any conflicts of interest, if a registered reviewer submits their own manuscript to KNJ, the Editor will assign a different, independent reviewer to evaluate the submission.
