Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease that can lead to various complications if not properly managed. One common complication is Diabetic Foot Ulcer (DFU), which can result in disability or even amputation. DFU occurs due to a combination of diabetic neuropathy, ischemia, and untreated infection. Objective: This study aims to determine the effect of the Self-Care Audiovisual Footcare Education (SAFE-FOOT) application on improving foot care to prevent Diabetic Foot Ulcers. Methods: The research design was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test non-equivalent control group design. The study sample consisted of 36 type 2 DM patients, divided into 18 in the intervention group and 18 in the control group. Results: The study showed that the average pre-test score of the intervention group was 40.72, with a standard deviation of 6.977. After the intervention, the average post-test score increased to 49.22, with a standard deviation of 7.134. Meanwhile, the average pre-test score of the control group was 45.94, with a standard deviation of 4.746, and the average post-test score increased to 48.33, with a standard deviation of 4.102. A p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) was obtained for the intervention and control groups, indicating that the Self-Care Audiovisual Footcare Education (SAFE-FOOT) Application had an effect on improving foot care to prevent Diabetic Foot Ulcer. The independent t-test yielded p = 0.650 (p > 0.05), showing no significant difference between the average post-test scores of the two groups. Conclusion: The Self-Care Audiovisual Footcare Education (SAFE-FOOT) Application is effective in improving foot care to prevent Diabetic Foot Ulcer.
