Background: Patient adherence to rehabilitation is very important in supporting the recovery process and independence of post-stroke patients. Non-adherence can slow the improvement of motor function and hinder the patient’s ability to regain independence in activities of daily living. Objective: This study aims to identify the relationship between patient adherence to rehabilitation and the level of independence among post-stroke patients. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design. A total of 90 post-stroke patients were selected using purposive sampling. The study was conducted at RSUD Dr. Moewardi. The level of patient independence was assessed using an activities of daily living independence instrument. Meanwhile, adherence was measured using the MMAS-8 (Morisky Medication Adherence Scale) questionnaire. Result: There was no statistically significant correlation between rehabilitation adherence and the level of independence among post-stroke patients, based on the Chi-Square test results, which yielded a value of 1.005 (df=1) and a p-value of 0.316 (p>0.05). Conclusion: It can be concluded that there is a statistically significant association between patients’ level of adherence to the rehabilitation program and the level of independence of post-stroke patients.
