Abstract

Background: Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP) is an important indicator for maintaining cerebral perfusion during the perioperative period. Changes in MAP values during the intra-anesthetic and post-anesthetic phases reflect hemodynamic dynamics that may influence the patient’s physiological condition. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the difference in the mean MAP during intra-anesthesia and post-anesthesia in patients receiving general anesthesia. Methods: This study employed a quantitative design with an analytic observational method and a cross-sectional approach. The research involved 66 respondents recruited from the Central Operating Installation of Sentra Medika Hospital Cibinong. Participants were selected using a purposive sampling technique based on inclusion criteria including patients aged 18–59 years, with ASA physical status I–II, undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia, and receiving awake extubation at the end of the anesthetic procedure. Data analysis was performed using a paired t-test to assess differences between the two variables. Results: The paired t-test showed a statistically significant difference between intra-anesthetic and post-anesthetic MAP (t = −4.991; p = 0.000). The mean difference of −7.712 mmHg indicates that post-anesthetic MAP was significantly higher than intra-anesthetic MAP. Conclusion: There was a significant difference between intra- and post-anesthetic MAP values. These findings suggest notable hemodynamic changes between the two phases, highlighting the importance of perioperative blood pressure monitoring.
