Hubungan Dukungan Sosial Teman Sebaya Terhadap Kecemasan Akademik pada Mahasiswa Keperawatan Universitas Tanjungpura

Background: Nursing students face various academic demands that can cause anxiety, especially when facing final exams (UAS). Peer social support is believed to help reduce academic anxiety levels. Objective: To identify the relationship between peer social support and academic anxiety (UAS) in nursing students at Tanjungpura University. Method: The quantitative study design used a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach. The sample was selected using a random sampling method with 170 respondents. Data collection used a peer social support questionnaire and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. The peer support questionnaire consists of 14 items that measure four dimensions of social support: emotional support (items 1–4), instrumental support (items 5–7), informative support (items 8–11), and evaluative support (items 12–14). Result: The results of the Pearson correlation test showed a significant relationship between peer support and academic anxiety (p-value = 0.019 < 0.05), with a very weak correlation (r = 0.180). Conclution: There is a significant relationship between peer social support and academic anxiety in nursing students at Tanjungpura University in facing the exam.
